trying to fit a security light-problem is the wire coming from the house is red,blue yellow and no plastic cover but the light only shows wiring for 3 wires-earth,live and neutral but has a spare terminal. i can't work out what goes where !! any ideas anyone

The chances are that the 3 wires coming from the house are live, switched live and neutral plus earth. You really need someone with a test meter (anything capable of measuring 240v will do) to confirm which is which.
