Caulking Coving

by denboy09 » Thu Jan 13, 2011 10:03 pm

Hi think i have made a big mistake.
I used Everbuild Hibriflex 480 to do the caulking thinking it was ok to emulsion afterwards. I have now read the instructions again and it says it can be painted over, nothing saying it can be emulsioned over. (what a plonker)
Can i first undercoat (water based) the Hibriflex 480 then finish off with 2 emulsion coats?
Thanks Den :(

Hi denboy, if you are going to paint on it with a waterbased undercoat, why not just try the emulsion first. They are both waterbased so the outcome should be the same. If for some reason it doesn't dry properly remove what will come off then use a oilbased undercoat to seal it first or get some acrylic paint and use that. As it says on the tube, just try it on a very small area first to see if it will take. Never used it myself so can't give a better answer.
