Can I darken the colour of beech laminate flooring?? Help, advice, information, answers and tips on all types of flooring from laminate and carpet to timber and vinyl

Hello every one, I've been looking at the forum since buying a bungalow with the better half and now want to put this question to you: 

Can I darken the colour of beech laminate flooring? 

We've got this throughout and would like to change it for a dark oak / walnut colour. 

The problem is that the previous tenant laid really good skirting over the laminate, and we don't want to ruin this and the well-plastered walls by ripping it up. 

Can laminate be sanded and varnished?

If it is synthetic laminate flooring rather than real wood laminate then you haven't got a chance of staining it.
