Use of sailicone sealant on inside window frames

by Jerseyconsumer » Fri Feb 25, 2011 5:30 pm

Why has my builder used silicone sealant on the inside of my PVCu window frames to seal reveals etc rather than a paintable one? I thought silicone sealant was only used outside as now when I want to re-emulsion I have difficulty getting a good edge.

Thanks- that's what I thought. There are paintable frame sealants for inside use which makes it much easier to re-decorate.

Just being to lazy, He should have used decorators caulk. I really loathe this.

if the silicone is only filling a gap then you should be able to peel it off and refill with a caulk. it may be that they have used it to adhere the trim.
