I have 4 questions regarding a very small outdoor waterfall project
#1 - What is the proper grout, adhesive/mortar to use on 1/4" Indian slate tiles that will be applied as a detail to a section of a concrete wall made up of 12"x6"x8" concrete blocks?
#2 - Should I use a sealer on the concrete block before applying anythng to reduce water absorption and protect against the freeze/thaw conditions typical to my region (Brooklyn, NY) - there is already evedence of effluerence
#3 - Should I use a sealer on the slate afterward to reduce the amount of "flaking" of it's natural layers - due to our freeze/thaw climate?
#4 - Can I use a circular saw with a masonry blade or is it necessary to use a "wet saw"?
This is a very small project and I only need to clad two surfaces 8"w x 42"h. It is going to be a detail on the waterfall in my backyard. I want to make sure that the slate doesn't fall off after one year because I haven't used to proper materials for the climactic conditions here, seeing that it will be outdoors.
Thanks in advance for any assistance you may be able to offer.
