Nightmare plasterboard walls

by joannajhaj » Mon Apr 11, 2011 3:47 pm

Hi,

I recently moved in to a 10 year old house and are attempting to fix shelves, curtain poles etc.
However it seems that the gap between the plasterboard (I think its 12mm) above the window and masonry is only about 1.5cm!? Please could anyone suggest appropriate fixings for heavy items (eg shelves, curtain pole) or would a batten be better? I have looked everywhere I can think of and it seems that none of the widely available fixings are suitable.
Thanks so much to anyone that can help!

you can try umbrella fixings that open out on the other side of the plasterboard,or Redidrive fixings that screw into the plasterboard.
