BOiler or thermostat?

by paulsm1 » Wed May 25, 2011 2:26 pm

My boiler isnt firing up on the heating at the moment, the hot water is ok though so I was wondering if it is my timer/thermostat? I have got a wireless timer/thermostat and also a timer on the boiler which is switched to on permanently, can I test if it is the thermostat not working by simply connecting the two wires that go to it from the boiler? or do they need to be apart to simulate the thermostat kicking in

paulsm1,
Have a look for an override button on the wireless stat receiver unit.

Not sure how long you've had wireless system but is the battery good in the thermostat?
If turned up/down most wireless sets receivers have a light that comes on to confirm receipt of signal from transmitter, is this working?
To prove local wiring ok, I put a normal light switch with wires connected in place of thermostat connections at boiler, (with boiler switched off of course).
Then switch boiler on and use switch to act as stat.
Once working, replace original connections and look at stat set up.
