I have read many threads with similar issues but I am still stuck with this issue. I am hoping someone can help.
I live in a new build house, I have an en suite with a gravity un pumped mixer which works great and a bathroom that currently does not have any shower. I want to (half have done) install a shower in the bathroom. I want to cause minimal disruption to the finnished surfaces and the walls are already tiled upto half way. I also want to avoid taking up floors if possible as there not the old type boards where you can just lift one or two. I dont really mind what sort of shower I have in the bathroom and I'm not too demanding on performance, I just want a little more than a trickle. I would really like to avoid having a pump.
Ok so before I started I thought I can have an electric shower, easy enough to install and I have installed a few of those before. The problem being with this is the consumer unit does not have a spare outlet (I know also lifting flooring for wiring but wiring is easier to feed through than pipe, I could run the wire without too much hassle if I had the spare outlet) I didnt really want to upgrade the consumer unit.
I know a mixer shower really needs a pump to be anygood so I wasnt keen on the idea but I thought well if the one in the en suite works fine without a pump then one in the bathroom should be ok. I have installed the mixer but when testing the performance is less than poor.
I have connected it the same way the ensuite one is connected. The ensuite is getting cold from CWS in loft (only around 0.5m head between shower head and bottom of CWS, maybe 1m to CWS water level) but works the ensuite quite well. The hot for the ensuite comes from a tee into the hot feed from basin. Both feeds are 15mm.
So I have taken a cold from the CWS and a hot from the bath tap, the way the pipe run is laid from the HWC I dont think there would be much if any difference in taking it straight from the HWC. The only real difference is that the cold run is much further to the bathroom and for the hot to avoid removing tiles I have used a few elbows to get the pipe where it needs to be (all copper).
The ensuite shower is an Aqualisa Aquarian, which requires 0.1 bar. The one I have fitted in the bathroom is a Cascade and requires 0.3bar. I didnt think this would be a big deal but is this the problem? If I replace it with a 0.1 bar then in theory should it perform like the en suite shower does? I am thinking of changing the run from the CWS to 22mm rather than 15mm is this likely to make a difference?
I appreciate any help and suggestions and I appologise for the lengthy storey but I have only included details that I thought were necessary.
