Hi there
Trying to do a bit of a short term renovation job on my bathroom by painting tiles. we have just had a leak through the ceiling and have removed all the old sealant from around the bath tub. This has been a bit of a pandoras box as now there are huge gaps between the tiles and bath as they had just stuffed sealant in the big gaps. Has anyone got any advice on how we should fill the gaps before we apply the new sealant?

There are a few solutions you can look at but the answer depends on why there are gaps in the first place.

If the bath is touching the walls in places then the walls must be out of true. If not then look at what is preventing the bath from going right back to the walls. Maybe the bath supports under the bath are touching the pipe work in which case, can the bath supports be trimmed and the bath repositioned.

If it is just a case that there is no option but to fill the gaps then I would suggest fixing batons in-between the bath and the wall to enable you to install a tiled border along the baths edge prior to sealing with a sealant bead.
