Bathroom coving

by denboy09 » Wed Aug 03, 2011 7:16 pm

I want to put coving up in the bathroom. The walls are tiled right up to the celing. Will coving adhesive work to the flat ceramic tiles? :?

Not something I have ever tried personally but on first thoughts, due to the finish on the tiles, the adhesive would not bond.

If it were something that I would attempt, I would personally use the coving adhesive on the ceiling edge and try a bonding agent such as 'no nails' on the tiled edge.

If you secure some pin nails into the tile joints along the length of the coving so it can sit on, this will help it stop slipping as it sets and maybe try a test piece first to see the strength results.

No it wont work, if its a plasterboard coving you will need to cut the tile first.then bed the coving onto the wall

It would be almost impossible to cut the tiles. What if it put up wood batten against the tiles first then put the coving onto that. Would an adhesive "gripfill etc" work in a bathroom enviroment?

A grab adhesive will work on the tile edge smells a bit like evo-stick and that sticks anything, I've seen it were the tile comes off before you can get the stuff off, and a few small pins in the ceiling edge,
