Rendering Brick/Block

by drewks » Fri Jul 06, 2007 11:39 am

A couple (OK a few more!) of questions that I'd be really grateful if someone could answer BEFORE I start a rendering project:
1. Best mix and additives
2. I'm intending to do a 2 coat render - scratch(7 - 10mm) and finish(5-9mm).....are these thicknesses ok?.....when I remove the battens from doing the scratch, how long does it need to be left before the finish goes on - and
3. Is it necessary to rebatten for the finish or just trowel and level?

MANY THANKS![/list]

I always use a sand and cement screed instead of battons. Get the scratch coat spot on then there should be no need for battons on 2nd coat. Use a diamond float for a good finish its the best thing ive ever used.
