My new ceiling light wrks but the others dont ? Ask questions and find answers to many subjects relating to electrics and electrical work

my neighbour fitted a new cei;ing light it works but now the 3 others in other rooms dont...he disconnected the old light , it had 3 wires in white sleeves each with a black red and green wire .. he connected one red and one black and the earth and taped the other wires up ..what did he do wrong ? the house was built in the late 60 to early 70 .

Hi, what did 'your neighbour' think the other cables were there for???
electricians don't put em in for fun!!!
I'm feeling a 'wind-up' here but in case this is for real then if you only have one set of wires in use then the light must be on constantly, or this is not the full story!!
