Have put an offer in on a property and just had the survey results back. There is quite a lot of mention about condensation and damp on the outer walls. It doesn't appear to be anything too serious (the bank have seen the survey and are still happy to lend us the money) but nevertheless it is mentioned and as I know nothing about damp I am concerned.
There is cavity wall insulation but all the air bricks are blocked up - is this wise? Or should there be specialist air bricks which stop the insulation leaking out but don't restrict air flow? I have heard lots of bad things about cavity wall insulation causing damp and imagine that removing it would be costly, so is there anything that can be done to stop the damp?
Am sending a builder round for a second opinion but would love to hear if anyone has any experience of this?
