Bristan artisan thermostatic surface mounted bar shower valv

by richhe » Thu Dec 01, 2011 7:49 pm

Does anyone know of any problems with the instructions for this shower (with fast fit connector- instructions at Google "tradeplumbing.co.uk/assets/images/bristan/INSTRUC.PDF-1044824-D1.pdf"

They say that pipe should protrude 30mm past finished wall surface, then later say that pipe should protrude past olive by 5mm maximum. However, for the latter to be satisfied means that the pipe will only protrude beyond wall by about 15 or 20 mm. Which one is it? (i'm guessing that it should be 5 mm past the olive MINIMUM). Second question- Would it do any harm to have the pipe go further than 5mm past the olive in any case, as long as the connecting nuts can tighten adequately withou damaging the filters?

Cheers

Rich

Usually, I loosely fit all the components on to the pipe then mark it where it protrudes. Remove everything and cut the pipe at the mark. This will ensure the olive has enough pipe to grip on and also it does not intrude into the shower valve too far.
