DG Coldseal Door Lock Broken

by LMF006 » Wed Jul 11, 2007 8:52 pm

My Coldseal DG back door has locked shut. The handle more or less turns around 360 degrees and the locking mechanism is engaged. How do I release the locking mechanism to enable me to open the door to change the lock?
The key still works as normal. I have taken the handle off and can see the square hole the bar passes through but it spins in its housing.
I have been offered an £80 call out plus an estimate of £600 for a new door which seems a bit steep.
Help please.

It's ok!! Now sorted. I never thought it could be cured in that way. Well...you live and learn. I guess i was just lucky to meet this particular repairman who managed to sort the problem out for one tenth of the cost I was first quoted! And in such an imaginative way!!! It has restored my faith in the English workman anyway. What a brilliant yet simple solution!

Thanks to all those who read of my plight.
