Hi, I wonder if any plumbers out there can help me. I have had a full central heating system fitted by a young corgi registered plumber who used fittings specified by and supplied by me. Most, if not all, radiator tails are in chrome plated copper and the Speedfits go straight onto the tails. Subsequently I have spoken to John Guest ( Speedfit ) and they advised that their fittings should not go onto chrome pipe as the surface is too hard for the teeth to bite into and could blow off.
A: Is this true, as some of the plumbing is now un-accessible.
B: They advised that some chrome should be removed from the end of the pipe, I have tried and it seems impossible.
