Extending cables

by stiz » Fri Jul 13, 2007 11:59 am

I have some waist height sockets that I want to drop down to just above the skirting board. This means I need to extend the cable by approx 1 metre.

I know I can't just use choc blocks and bury them in the plaster, but can I do this if they are inside a choc box ? (taking the cable back into the ceiling and fitting a JB isn't really an option).

Many thanks

Hi stiz, if back box is recessed in wall then if you crimp connections in box, using proper crimping tool, then are considered as 'fixed connections ' not requiring access & a thin cover plate over, using box screws should be OK
