Changing washer

by Kieran1 » Wed Jan 18, 2012 3:02 am

Hi, I wonder If someone could help me with this. I am trying to replace the washers on the mixer taps in the kitchen. Its a job I do know how to do, its just that this particular tap is different from any ive seen before. I took of the cap as usual, then removed the screw and the coloured plastic underneath. The problem is that I see now way of removing the actual tap heads. There is nothing that I can see holding them in place and they do not screw or pull off once the actual screw has been removed. What needs to be done to get them off?

Kieran1,
If you are saying that the handwheel part of the tap won't come off then some very careful levering is needed. Most of the handwheels are held in place on splines so try lubricating the to of the handwheel where you removed the screw.
