Garage Door

by marktheherald » Sun Jan 29, 2012 2:39 pm

Hi, I need to replace the retractable gear on a 15'6" x 7' garage door. In order to get the correct gear pack, I need to know the weight of the door panel. The door is ply timber on a steel frame and about 25yrs old.
Has anyone any idea how to weigh this? I'm guessing it must be at least 250lbs/115kgs.
The gear pack has to be ordered specially, and can't be returned if incorrect... £250 I can't afford to lose!
Help!

get your bathroom scales and let the whole weight of the door rest on it in the closed position, and add 10% for good measure.
