Hopefully I can explain this enough for Sparx etc to help me out. Ok I have a ceiling fan with built in light. At the moment the fan is pull cord operated and has a seperate switch on the fan to operate the light. I want to fit a switch that the fan supplier offers as an alternative but on the rear of the switch it has three connections: AC live= consumer unit live in, then fan output and light output ( No neutral ). On the fan itself it has the normal three wire connections live, neutral and cpc. I have noticed that the live connection in the fan has two wires joined together I suspect one for the fan and one for the light.
How do I connect the two together? do I seperate the two wires in the fan and connect the relevant light and fan outputs to them from the switch outputs and then run a seperate neutral to the fan using blue sleeved three core and earth? I appreciate that it maybe difficult to understand but I have to try dont I?

Hi Efit2005 (& Blakey if you're 'reading the mail')
I think you have got it already!
If the sw. is a pull switch to replace existing one there won't be a neutral available at existing sw. so u will need to do a mod. usual stuff-sw. off circuit etc.
remove old sw. At ceiling rose /j-box where sw. is connected disconnect sw. return wire & all connections to fan/light.
put sw wire into Neutral block so you now have Perm L + Neutral at sw. position.discon. old tw/e from fan/lt. seperate as you say run 3C /e between fan/lt & sw.
At fan connect 1 core to each connector if u use as recommended grey as N then sleeve it blue both ends, sleeve Blk with brn both ends,
at fan Blu to N other 2 to fan & lt. note which u use for which.
at sw. end L in to sw. [cons in.] term 2 sw. wires one in each as at other end, put N in to term block with your new blue sleeved N,
sorry if a bit basic but never sure of others understanding of electrics so err on side of safety & ussume worst case which I believe from your post is not the case here, B.W. regards to both SPARX

Not basic at all m8 as I work on BMW for a living lol, but understand a large majority of it having passed the dreaded vrq level 2 in domestic installation bla bla ...
