A question about heated towel rail style radiators...

In our previous house we had a duel-fuel towel rail put in and found it very useful being able to just switch it on for a short time using the electric supply without needing to have central heating on

In our new house there is a towel rail radiator but it only works with the central heating. Is it possible to convert it without changing the radiator itself? Can you buy an electric element and then insert that into the existing towel rail? I realise it will mean draining the system, which is fine, and I imagine the screw thread is a standard size so I would have thought it was straight forward...

Any thoughts? Anyone done this before?

Duel fuel radiators are simply ordinary radiators but with the addition of the element so there is nothing special there. However, the plumbing to it will need to be modified as the pipes enter at a different angle and of course the electric supply needs to be put in place
