The internal walls in my 1892 property are suffering from damp on removing the blown plaster most of the mortar is pure sand so just drops off. The wall an English garden bond lacks mortar in the header rows, so much so a tape can be inserted a good eight inches, I guess the tape only stops as the external wall is rendered. Please can you advise on the best approach for putting fresh mortar in the many holes and would a 3:1 mix be ok?

use a mix of 4:1:1 sand cement & lime also add a waterproof addative to the mix

Welsh brickie Thank you for replying, The same wall has a damp problem, l posted a question the other day under the damp and damp proofing forum, I woundered if you could take a look to see if you had any ideas.

Welsh brickie Thank you. I have read quite a few of your replies and woundered if you could take a look at Damp wall 43 inches from floor under the damp and damp proofing forum. It is the same wall that lacks the mortar betwix header bricks any ideas?
