new sockets

hi there im fitting new double sockets into my conservatory spuring from an exsiting sock in my living room.. do the steel back boxes need to be earth or the face socket itselfs or both ???

U CAN ONLY SPUR FROM THE EXISTING SOCKET IN THE LIVING
ROOM IF THIS SOCKET IS ON THE RING MAIN . AND THE NUMBER OF SOCKETS U COULD HAVE IS
ONLY 1 DOUBLE OR 2 SINGLES . IF YOUR FACE PLATE SOCKETS ARE METAL THEN AN EARTH WOULD B CONNECTED TO FACEPLATE EARTH
TERMINAL AND METAL BACK BOX TERMINAL.

spuring from socket

the socket i have spured from is a spur itself nut i have put a 13amp fused spur as advised by sparx is this ok to do

Hi Rambo; under the regulations; you cannot spur off of a spur (Except where a single socket is being added from an existing spurred single socket), you can only take a spur from the ring - You would need to add the living room socket to the main ring and then spur off of it.

Provision of a switched fused spur is not an accepted practice.
