DIY woodworm product/treatment

by DIY4Me » Wed Mar 28, 2012 10:58 pm

I have noticed some woodworm while I was replacing some joists in my hallway so I'm wanting to complete a DIY treatment of the woodworm just to be safe.

I have done some research and noticed that the woodworm can be dormant for years but I'd like to spray something all the same before I sand my floors.

Can anyone suggest a spray/product that will be complete the treatment but also be safe enough for my wife's fish and dog to be in the house after the product has dried.

I'm not sure of the best products to use and also where I can buy these.

any thoughts would be great.

regards

Most recommended and available products to the DIY sector now are either pemetherin or boron based. Both of which are unsafe for pets, fish, etc.

The drying times for these chemicals is normally around 24 hours before it's safe so I would personally take all creatures out of your home for a weekend while you carry these works out.

Make sure you give it a good 24 hours before you get the back in there to avoid any risks.
