I am fitting electric underground openers to my gates (soon to be built). I notice that there are two types of kits - hydraulic and electromechanical (electric motors).
Motors are generally cheaper, though I am told that hydraulic systems are stronger, quieter & longer lasting.
I want to buy a good quality kit that is going to be reliable. I know a lot of people use CAME (electromechanical) - approx £1000. Then there are companies such as Protecto that sell kits such as the 'Shark' for around £600.
Which type do I buy? Hydraulic or motor? What makes are the best?
I am loathe to use a gate supplier to fit the automation for me as you pay the fitters and the company who sends them. I have lined up the groundworks contruction manager (who is building a small estate 100 yards away) who is also an electrician. I am hoping he can do the job & I will help out. Does this sound sensible?
thanks for your suggestions. I would love to speak to someone who knows a bit about underground kits, or who has one.
