Exterior wall cement collar

by soyabean » Wed Aug 29, 2012 3:12 pm

Hi all

What is the cement collar that surrounds the bottom 2 to 3 feet of my exterior walls called? Is there any advice and or products for repairing it as it's crumbling?

Unsure what you mean by collar. If it crumbling you need to remove the loose material and stabilize it by painting it with a unibond pva solution, and repair it with sand/cement/lime 4:1:1 mixture and add a waterproofing agent, like opti-mix render addative.

Thanks Welsh brickie. What quantity of the waterproof agent would you recommend? Also, Wickes do a ready made mortar mix, don't want to cut corners but is it worth using it?
