cellar painting

by elvis1981 » Wed Sep 05, 2012 8:28 pm

Hi,

Just moved into a new house built circa 1900. It has a cellar space and I'm just wanting to tidy the cellar up for storage use. the walls seem to have been painted before but a long time ago but the paint seems to have begun to crumble off in areas. Also the cellar has previously been used for storage of coal and half of the floor is stained black from this, so i am wondering how to go about painting the cellar floor to get rid of these marks. I'm wanting to know what kind of products to use and how to go about this etc.

elvis1981,
You are going to have to thoroughly washing the walls and floor.
If you apply a paint onto the floor it will lift due to damp so try to get an acceptable finish without painting.
end
