I am selling my house and the surveyor has been to check it over. He checked the interior wall of the living room and sucked his teeth and said the wall was 10-15% damp in places possibly caused by problems with the exterior UPVC boards. I have since checked the rest of the house myself and find most of the walls are in this range, but there is no sign of damp nor has there ever been and the house feels warm and dry so is the 10-15% figure he quoted significant? If it is what range should the interior walls and brickwork be?

in my opinion hes trying to find fault to reduce the price for the buyers,the surveyors are not experts at any construction issues,a structural surveyors report is the only valid report you can trust.

Thanks I'm thinking its a ruse too. I have just checked this "surveyors" b card and see he's not RICS.

He also told me I had a leaking flat roof as he had seen "water stains on the interior ceiling" What he actually saw was a paste mark on a ceiling lining paper repair - admittedly its a water paste but he should have known the difference. Plus he also said because the bitumen on a roof repair was still slightly tacky then that meant I had had a recent repair I wasnt owning up to. The repair in question was 8 years old.

I think they are trying to do me.
