Amateurs here!
We have a free standing shower.
The show tray is elevated on a wooden frame and is about 15cm off the bathroom floor.
FOr the last 10 years this wooden frame has been tiled (touching the floor)
However, the files have gradually come loose. i.e. only 2 metres of tiles on 2 sides of tray about 15cm high. Note that shower tray is in a corner.
We have now removed all the loose tiles and tidied up the wooden frame.
Wife Suggestion!
Before we replace the tiles with new adhesive my wife want to put a thin silicone strip at the top (perhaps 1cm) and bottom (i.e. where tile meets floor) of the wooden frame.
The tiles will then be pushed into the silicone and adhesive will be used for 95% of the tile.
Her logic is that water got behind the tiles in the first instance and a small amount of silicone at the top of the tile (and the bottom) will prevent a re-occurrence.
Is this wise ?
Also, if it is not , then will you tell my wife!!
