Maximum gap size internal wall removal

by The bitter biscuit » Sat Feb 23, 2013 10:09 pm

Hi everyone,

I am looking at knocking through 2 reception rooms into one, i have been advised that regulations recently changed and the maximum gap i can have is reduced because there is an existing arch in the hall way next to it. Its a load bearing wall.. i have drawn the layout below.. kind of! Does anyone know what the max opening i can have is?

no without viewing the job nobody can give you an accurate response to your question. I would consult a structural engineer you will have to present calculations for the building inspector to pass anyway
