I want to renovate a single story stone cottage thats over 100 years old and hasnt been lived in from the 60's. I want to build it up to a story and a half house with an attic room. The cottage is very small in height, the roof starts just basically above the front door. I can touch it with my hand it's that low. I would like to take down the old roof and build the walls higher to turn it into a story and a half house and put on a whole new roof. Can the stone walls be built higher with block or must it be built higher with stone? It will be all plastered over. What's my best option?
