Hello all,
First time posting! Have used the site before and found it very useful!
We have removed a backboiler and its left a nasty gap in the fireplace. We considered converting it to a solid fuel fireplace, but in the end decided to brick, plaster and paint over it.
We were happy to do this until someone said we may need an air block right smack in the middle of the fireplace for building regulations. Is this the case? Part of me thinks because there was a back boiler in there before this will not be neccessary. Also were advised we would need to sweep the chimney, but again, since a backboiler was there, there should not be any soot.
We are hoping to brick it up next Sunday, so would appreciate some feedback on this if you can!
Thanks a ton in advance,
Darren
