by Tomsie » Fri Jun 21, 2013 12:17 pm

Hi,
A stupid question I know, but on the element to increase the hotness of the water do I turn the scew clockwise or anti clockwise.
Thanks,

You would turn it clockwise a very small amount. It should be marked with temperature settings. But there is usually a reason that the immersion is not getting as hot as it used to.
If its an immersion in the bottom of the tank, its possible that the tank has got hard water scale build up & the heater element is sitting in this scale & not heating the water directly.
The other possibility is the thermostat needs changing.

Hi,
Many thanks for your help, it's appreciated. What I also forgot to say is that I had someone install a new element but I wasn't convinced they turned it up enough, hence the question.
