soil pipe part replacement

by pchilton » Wed Aug 01, 2007 9:43 am

:? Hi, i need to replace a horizontal external soil pipe which joins to the main soil pipe. Because of sink pipes also joining in I will need to replace a small part of the main stack below the 't' joint. While leaving the top soilstack and most of the bottom soil stack in place how can I join the new soil pipe with push together fittings without disturbing the main stack - ie the pipe will need to be longer and then pushed into the soil fittings. I dont really want to loosen the top half of the soil stack to be able to join it all together!

you can get rubber flexible connectors that are sealed using a big jubilee clip, this should allow you to replace a part of the soil stack without disturbing any other parts.

you'll slide these onto the upper and lower part of the stack, cut the plastic pipe to size and fit in place then slide the connectors over and tighten

There are different types of connectors

plastic to plastic
plastic to clay
plastic to cast iron
cast iron to clay etc.

make sure you get the right ones, travis perkins or ashworth frazer will stock these.
