Ryobi EBS800w Sander

by the-demi-god » Fri Jul 05, 2013 4:14 pm

I need to sand the wooden floor and as I have an old 1/3 sheet sander decided it was time to invest in a new one. Saw the Ryobi EBS 800 belt sander I thought it looked robust they get a good name so I purchased it. I know it is me but when I tried to use it ....it's gouging the wood it runs so fast that I have no control over it is single speed but I cannot find a variable speed at a reasonable price and since I have now tried it I am fairly sure the shop would not take it back anyway.
Does anyone have any advice that I can try the floor still needs to be sanded but I don't want to ruin it and I don't know what to do now.

Thank you

Hi
A small hand held sander is not really up to the job. I would suggest you look at a hired floor sander, a machine designed for the job. But bear in mind that sanding will reduce the thickness of the floor.
It all depends on what the existing floor is, and what you want to achieve.
