I had a similar expanding foam product applied to my roof-tiles in 1995, but a different company. My house was built in 1900 with slate tiles and the copper nails had corroded. This sort of treatment (advertised in National newspapers) looked an ideal and cheaper solution than a full roof service, to both lock the tiles in place and add insulation to the house. I was very happy with it, it worked well and I just sold the house this month. At the time I was told that maintaining ventilation through the roof was important.
Summer 2016 I was approached by a rep from Dreamroof in a pop-up display at the local B&Q in South West. I agreed to a no-obligation survey quote for my Mother's bungalow built in 1950, I was redecorating/upgrading it at the time. They said they were the original developers of the technique and their product was different and superior to the opposition (of course). They promised a reduction in heat loss of 80% or so.
They promised a full roof "MOT" survey with recommendations regarding conditions of tiles, roof felt etc. We have dormer window loft conversion (1 bedroom) done in 1972, and still a very roomy loft space fully floored for storage. The rep (apparently one of the partners in the company) spent 2-3 minutes in the loft - I did not see him look at the felt in any detail at all (although I know it is in good shape), nor any inspection of the tiles overall (again I know they are all ok). Instead of measuring the length of the house inside the loft along the ridge, he measured inside the loft-bedroom, missing around 8-10 feet of the roof length. He then made a hand scribbled calculation which he never showed me - just told me the final price verbally. The price was less than I expected and I was promised a further discount if I was the "first in your postcode" to place an order- which he suggested needed to be that week. I was sort-of interested, but wary and generally unimpressed with his approach. I did not receive a copy of the quote at the time, and received no formal quote in writing later by post or email, nor any record of the "roof MOT survey" and no details of their promised warranty nor any terms and conditions.
I am already aware that if these treatments are not applied correctly and adequate ventilation is not maintained in the roof, condensation can be a problem.
In fact I received no follow-up call or contact from them at all - although I had already decided that even if I wanted such a treatment to the house, I would not use Dreamroof.
