French Doors - How to Removed and Change Locks and Handles

by Lebba » Wed Feb 12, 2014 6:44 pm

Hi, I have a set of French Doors with a "middle piece" (I haven't got a clue what it's called) on one of them and I want to change the handles and the locks (brass at the moment, but I've bought chrome handles and nickel locks). I have changed the lock and handles on one door, but I can't get to the lock on the one with the "middle piece", I have taken all of the screws out of middle piece, but I still can't get it to come off. Any suggestions other than leave them as brass and try and get a refund on the chrome handles etc?

there are screws in the top and bottom aswell, if you have removed them all use a wood chisel and lever the piece off, start at the top of the door and work down, it may be siliconed on, you need to remove the cover caps and look down the open profile to see if you have missed any fixings
