Damp Proof Membrane before floor boards for insulating suspended wooden floor

by THOMAS65 » Sat Feb 15, 2014 9:51 am

I'm insulating our suspended wooden floor at home using the netting and loose insulation between the joists method (Making sure not to block the air bricks!). Should I then place a Damp Proof Membrane over the insulation and rafters prior to re-laying the floor boards?? I have seen this somewhere and just wanted some feed back on whether this is necessary or not??

no don't lay it, if you want to seal the floor, then tack 3mm fibreboard on top of the floorboards and tape the joints. If your having bare floorboards
then its best to nail battens to the side of the joists and use a solid insulation board in between like celotex or kingspan instead
