Designair GCLED60SS Cooker hood/extractor LED not working

by mandyspangles » Thu Feb 20, 2014 11:26 am

I have a Designair GCLED60SS cooker hood which is only just out of guarantee. The blue LED light that surrounds the glass hood has stopped working. I rarely if ever use the extractor but everything works perfectly including the GU10 bulbs, on, off switches, and three extractor speeds. The only problem seems to be the non-working LED. Can anyone please tell me if this is a job I can tackle myself? I understand the glass hood itself can be removed with an Alan key. It has been suggested that I may need a new switch panel- a fiddly job that would require soldering. Might it be the case it just requires a new bulb? I'm keen to sort this out myself if at all possible. Many thanks.

There is a manual to download on the My Spare Parts website - that explains about changing the bulb, and it also has a troubleshooting section. Here is a link to the page - I think the user handbook is likely to be best use http://www.myspareparts.co.uk/GCLED60SS-1-GCLED60SS-curved-glass-chimney-hood-LED-60cm

Good luck and let us know how you got on.
