Is this a loadbearing wall or not - Professionals query??

by bouba » Sat Sep 27, 2014 7:00 am

1930 end terrace house. Want to remove HALF of kitchen and dining room wall.

1x (9x3 inch) beam/joist sitting on this wall. Nothing above this wall.

Is it safe to remove or I will still need RSJ. If I do what will it support.

Please see pictures on photobucket as they were too large to attach. Any help much appreciated.

Don't remove anything without building control consent, if you do and you sell the house you can be liable to pay for repair or upgrading to the works carried out. We cannot tell by a photo what type of beam to install, sorry. Its best to ask the local council inspector for advise they are very approachable
