Banging Pipes for Bathroom Sink Taps - What Could be the Cause? All aspects of plumbing questions and answers, help, tips and information

Hi

My bathroom sink taps have the following issues:

Cold tap

When the tap is first turned on there is a lot of what seems like built up pressure and the water comes out too fast.

Hot tap

Starts off ok but gradually starts to whine then turns into a rhythmic banging. It stops if I turn the tap on full pelt.

Please help!

Cold tap problem sounds like there's a 'dead leg' somewhere on the system containing air. As far as the hot is concerned, please give us some more info as to what system you have , and how your water is heated.

Direct water system/combi boiler I believe

In that case, the hot tap probably has a loose washer, or worn mechanism. Not much more I can say without more details of the problems.

Extra info:
I've noticed that the flow of water on the hot tap slows by itself after about 20 seconds and that's when the banging starts.. Turn the tap up full and it stops
