Damp Issue in Property - How Serious is this and how can we Solve it?

Hi,
We have a damp issue in a family members house that has been left idle for the past 6 month.

Damp is appearing in two places

Upstairs coming down from the corner of the ceiling (also attached)

Downstairs coming from the floor (opposite side of the house)

Outside of house pic showing where the damp is affecting

Has anyone any advise on how to tackle this, and how potentially serious this is?
Thanks Anthony

There are a number of reasons that you can have damp in a property. You should always treat damp as it will not improve without treatment.

These patterns of damp and mould can be caused by condensation - but are you experiencing similar problems in other rooms? it could be a leak from the gutter or hopper and around the window.

There is a handy guide for spotting and treating condensation here: https://www.diydoctor.org.uk/projects/condensation.htm

For further advice on diagnosing and treating damp see this project https://www.diydoctor.org.uk/projects/damp-and-mould.htm and other related projects here https://www.diydoctor.org.uk/diy-how-to-type/damp.htm

Good luck and let us know how you get on
