Fitting Towel Rail Heater in Place of Radiator

by terry38102 » Thu Nov 20, 2014 8:22 pm

i am going to be replacing the radiator in my bathroom for a towel rail the only problem is the existing radiator has a earth wire clamped to the bottom of it.
i just wandered what you would usually do with this because dont want it on towel rail(if i have to i have to) but i was thinking to clamp it on to the pipe under the floor. would this be acceptable? or i could attach it to the radiator in the hall. cheers

You can buy and earth clamp from any electrical wholesaler, the earth wire can be attached, usually by a nut/ bolt, then the thin metal strap can be passed around the copper pipe below the valve and tightened up.
If you have a combi boiler you may see a few of them connected up with earthing wires.
