Applying Primer Over Varnish Topcoat on Sanded Floor - What to do now?

by vr1206 » Mon Mar 02, 2015 10:50 pm

Hi all, I wonder if you can help me with this problem I've encountered. This weekend I re-sanded the floors in my dining room. After I applied a coat of primer and two coats of clear varnish.

Today I applied what I thought was another coat of clear varnish but when I checked the bottle I had mixed them up and I had reapplied the primer!

What can I do now? Will I have to re-sand all the floors or can I apply clear varnish again over the top? The floor looks the same as it did before but I don't know what to do!

If anyone has any advice please let me know!

Hi vr1206

Please bear in mind that sanding a floor can remove quite a bit from the thickness of the boards.
You haven't said exactly what materials you are using, but without any more info, I would suggest a light rub over by hand, followed by the finish coat.
Another full sand would not be a good idea.
