Help Identifying Wet Patch Problem After it has Rained

by jax64 » Sun Jun 14, 2015 2:08 pm

Hi, when its been raining we develop the 2 small wet patches as shown in the photo. Seems to dry out when weather is fine. Approx 1ft above skirt and 1.5ft below window. Can't see anything obvious outside. As its a bungalow the soffits stop the rain actually getting near to the wall so stumped as to whats causing it. Any ideas would be grateful, thanks Jax.

its probably mortar on the wall ties, causing damp to bridge the cavity

We had cavity wall insulation fitted few months ago, could this have caused the problem? Thanks

Yes!
In the days when John Prentis was Deputy Prime Minister, his department issued a directive saying, no cavity wall insulation should be fitted in homes in the west of the UK, or in any exposed location.
