Hi, I bought and installed some Shanghai Mix from Tile HQ in the kitchen.
We love them. All is fine apart from on the window sills. We have 2 , one gets the sun for a short period in the morning, the other, most of the afternoon/evening.
We had a 3 week holiday, while is was warm (not hot!) over here, with no-one in the house and returned to find about 12 cracked on the rear window and 2 on the front. A couple of days passed and another broke on the rear, not that warm weather either.
I called the "help" desk and was advised it was because I grouted right up to the window and the expansion caused the cracking. Feasible... So I replaced them with new ones, dug out the grout and replaced with silicone last weekend.
Yesterday afternoon 3 more cracked on the rear! The weather again was warm for a couple of hours, not hot by any means.
Myself I think the tiles are faulty, as there is no reason for them to crack as I have removed the grout.
I have 2 full window sill of these tiles. I would like to keep them, however I can not if they keep breaking.
I am a DIY'er, so have I done something wrong???
Any suggestions?
