Power Shower Makes the Right Noise but Only Dribbles Water

by wrongsideof40 » Sun Aug 28, 2016 5:50 pm

Hi Folks - Got an old B&Q Essentials power shower which failed this morning. It's the type of shower that takes a hot and cold feed, mixes to temperature, then pumps it out of the showerhead.

Well, the motor still runs but all that comes out now is no more than a dribble. I'm fairly confident water is reaching the inlets as it dribbles whether I'm turned all the way to hot or to cold. For BOTH inlets to be blocked would be too much of a coincidence, I think.

I'm also pretty sure the solenoid (on the OUTPUT, I believe) is activating. It clicks when the power is turned on and you can just see some metalwork moving, within the solenoid on power up/down.

So what else could it be? Any thoughts much appreciated.

Thanks - Martin
