Hi,
I have a new shiplap shed I need to paint.
I have seen the post recommending using linseed oil/ turps mix but I would like something that needs less maintenance than that.
I don;t mind how smelly it is (it might keep the pesky cats and foxes out of the garden)I just want it to penetrate the wood rather than run off.
Anybody have any ideas?

If it has already been treated you need to talk to the manufacturers to find out what will compatible.
If it's bare timber leave it to dry for a while then apply something like sadolin starting with their clear base coat.
