I have an elderly friend who noticed that the top of her bathroom radiator was cold when her CH was on, she also noticed that her boiler pressure had fallen to 0.75 BAR. She also noticed water slowly dripping from the output pipe of the pressure relief valve on the boiler ( 3 BAR pressure relief valve ).
When she told me about the problem I assumed it was simply a classic case of a worn out pressure relief valve and having opened the old one to clear the water I fitted a brand new pressure relief valve ( 3 BAR ). I then repressurised the system but noticed that the pressure dial did not rise above 0.25 BAR .
I then bled the system and there is no air coming out of the radiators and all are heating up correctly, the hot water is also OK . There is a slight drip from the pressure relief valve, the pressure is still showing 0.25 BAR.
I'm not happy with the situation, the pressure dial was working, so I can't understand why it only reads 0.25 BAR, and why should the new pressure relief valve leak. Could there be a slight blockage in the system .
I would appreciate advice from somebody with knowledge in this field. I could pay out £25 for a new pressure gauge but could it be something else, She doesn't have money to throw away.
