Pull Switch in Bathroom With Odd Wiring

by RobWar123 » Sun Nov 27, 2022 3:21 pm

Hi all - I have gone to replace the pull switch in the bathroom today and when I have taken the cover off the switch there is some odd wiring that I am unsure what to do with.

Into the com I have a red wire, all good there. However, into L1 is going a black wire and a red wire?

I have no idea if this is safe to replicate as usual as everywhere I can see says to never put these 2 together?

Hi robwar123,
If you are certain that both the red and black are connected in the L1 terminal then replicate what is already there.

RobWar123, I would guess you also have an extractor fan in the bathroom.
There are no "colour codes" for UK lighting, so, so long as you copy what is there, you will not have a problem.

An acknowledgement that you have read this post is always appreciated
